Description
W.R. – Advanced Waterproofing Additive for Cement and Mortar
W.R. is a high-performance, powder-based cement additive specially formulated to protect concrete and mortar against water penetration and moisture. Its advanced chemical action helps seal pores and capillaries within cement-based materials, providing effective waterproofing and enhanced durability.
How Does W.R. Work?
W.R. reacts chemically with calcium compounds in cement to form crystalline particles that fill pores and voids within concrete and mortar. This process significantly reduces water permeability and helps prevent water seepage.
Key Features and Benefits
- Effective Waterproofing: Helps prevent water penetration through concrete and mortar.
- Enhanced Durability: Improves resistance to water and moisture.
- Excellent Adhesion: Provides strong bonding to both porous and non-porous surfaces.
- Improved Workability: Allows a 10–15% reduction in the usual mixing water.
- High Flexibility: Produces mortar with excellent adhesion and flexibility.
- Chemical Resistance: Helps protect mortar against the effects of carbon dioxide and chloride ions.
- Paintable Surface: W.R.-modified mortar can be painted over with suitable coatings, including Phara Proof.
- Mechanical Resistance: Provides resistance to friction caused by workers and light vehicles.
Recommended Applications
W.R. is suitable for waterproofing mortar used in a wide range of construction applications, including:
- Swimming pools and water parks
- Water tanks and fountains
- Building foundations and basements
- Roofs and terraces
- Cement pipes and tunnels
- Bathrooms and sewage stations
- Artificial lakes, canals, and dams
- Marine and coastal structures
- Fish farms and landscaping projects
Application and Dosage
W.R. is easy to use and can be added directly to cement mortar.
Recommended dosage:
- W.R.: 1–2 kg
- Cement: 50 kg
- Sand: 150 kg
Add water at a rate approximately 10–15% lower than the usual amount, then mix thoroughly. Mechanical mixing is recommended.
The resulting mortar can be applied as plaster or used for repairing concrete cavities and cracks before applying a waterproofing coating.
Enhanced Waterproofing with Phara Proof
For applications requiring additional protection, W.R. mortar can be coated with two layers of Phara Proof.
This combined system provides excellent resistance to water pressure, with the datasheet specifying resistance of up to 7 bar under positive pressure and 3 bar under negative pressure.
